Calling attention to the assinine

I’m not a big fan of Alanis Morrisette, but this is inspired. Twelve thousand Conlan Points to her for calling attention to the current ridiculous, depressing state of pop music. All you fifteen-year-olds (and old-enough-to-know-betters), consider it next time you’re singing along.

I’m a lyrics guy. I like lyrics. I can enjoy good music with crap lyrics, but I appreciate when they’re both good. I realize they aren’t as important to everyone, but come on: so much of what passes for lyrics is frankly insulting. “My Humps” isn’t the only one, but it may be the best example. Hey, ladies! Use your bodies to get guys to buy you things and do what you want. And if they do anything you don’t like, make a scene! Susan B. Anthony would be proud.

The really ironic (no pun intended) part is, the cover is a more enjoyable song than Fergie’s.

It’s worth the visit to YouTube to check out the idiots/commenters complaining about how the song sucks and she shouldn’t have covered it. (I think I’ve mentioned elsewhere, YouTube commenters have my vote for the stupidest collective on the internets.)
