There are three reasons I like ordering cappuccino, and they are these:
- I don’t actually like ordering cappuccino.
- The “hipness” of cappuccino has worn off. I never would have ordered it in the mid- or late-90s, when Starbucks was just taking off and people were discovering espresso for the first time. But now it’s commonplace and the cool kids have moved on to super-frappimochaccinos or hazelnut-upside-down latte-fruities (anything to disguise that awful coffee taste), or maybe just dangerous amounts of canned energy drinks (which can’t possibly hurt you because they’re sold in stores). So a regular old cappuccino is pretty unassuming, just like me.1
- I like the idea of the foam on top insulating the drink and keeping it warm. In practice, I’ve found this isn’t very effective. But like I said: I like the idea.
And that’s it.
- I assume. [↩]
